#27: Anna Levin, Founder of Munchkin Mailbox

Anna found the childcare application process to be a tedious leviathan of paperwork, check writing, and phone calls. After countless hours applying to childcares, she knew there had to be a better way.
As a working Mom in tech, she thought working Moms and Dads needed an easier faster way to find and apply to childcare centers. She decided to create Munchkin Mailbox to make the childcare application process seamless and more fit for the modern day.

What do you consider your top 3 core values and how do they affect how you lead your business?

1. Trust - We understand that placing your child in someone's care is an emotional decision. We are committed to building lasting relationships with childcare providers and parents to improve the process for everyone.
2. Curiosity - We are always looking for things to improve on. We want to know what the pain points are for our customers and what we can do to improve their lives. This is extends to our process. We are always testing out new tools to improve productivity.
3. Customer Service - We give more than is expected of us, to our childcare providers and parents with genuine care, kindness and respect.

Can you share a time you either thought you failed, or actually did fail? How did you react and move past it, and what impact did it have on business decisions?

I spent a lot of time and money on the wrong marketing plan. It was a big learning lesson around how to communicate an idea that no one had heard of before. I learned that people don't want to buy something, they want to hear your story and why your product will improve their lives.

What types of projects do you have coming up that we can look forward to seeing in the future?

We are expanding in the DC Metro area and looking for other markets to expand to. Philadelphia or New York City are most likely. In May we will be presenting at a tech conference called Collision in Toronto.
