#8: Katya Libin, Co-Founder of HEYMAMA

Katya founded HEYMAMA, a global community built to support and empower mothers in business. Katya and co-founder Amri Kibbler built Hey Mama from an Instagram account inspiring mothers around the world into a global business.

1. What do you consider your top 3 core values and how do they affect how you lead your business?

Vulnerability, Compassion, Positivity. Without being vulnerable we are unable to truly show our strength. At HEYMAMA we help people see it's OK to ask for help, and it's ok to not know how to do things. Until we recognize we don't know things it's difficult to fix them. Compassion -- we focus on diving deep into the compassionate side of ourselves to support other women going through similar challenges. Without a desire to help each other, we prevent ourselves from full stepping into our own power as leaders and lifting up the collective. Positivity! So incredibly core! We are manifest-ers, always looking for solutions instead of problems, and helping build up the confidence of our community to foster their growth. Yes the juggle is real, but it's also hilarious, fulfilling, rewarding and so much more!

2. Can you share a time you either thought you failed, or actually did fail? How did you react and move past it, and what impact did it have on business decisions?

I think our failures are really just opportunities for us to learn from what is not resonating but the truth is they suck in the moment. I can't think of a public facing fail... but on a personal level I had one employee a couple of years ago who i just had a really hard time communicating with. Something wasn't flowing and she ended up leaving because of our dynamic. It felt like a failure to me and I was so sad that I couldn't' figure it out at the time, but i was able to reframe the position, my leadership style and come out of it much stronger!!!

3. What types of projects do you have coming up that we can look forward to seeing in the future?

So glad you asked! HEYMAMA is launching our app for members in the coming month to give them even greater ability to connect, which will include our little black book of resources, groups based on your industry and so much more. We're also really excited for our All About That Mama summit on May 10th in NYC on the intersection of business, beauty and wellness as well as expansion into Chicago, D.C. and Dallas!
